Get excited, Guam, because this weekend, the Jam Sessions Concert Series presents Pau Hana: The Return! This Saturday at Ypao Beach Park, Pau Hana is back on Guam’s biggest stage, but they’re not alone – sharing the spotlight with R&B-reggae powerhouse Siaosi and Guam's own Black Cinderella!

Two generations of musicians, one night of nonstop island vibes. Pau Hana's Shannon Kaopua said, “Hawai’i is my home, California is my home, Guam should be my home.” For Kaopua and John Solomon, Guam feels like home.

And they say since the band’s formation in ‘95, their mission remains the same—stay true to their island roots while spreading music that connects people everywhere. “We’re island. That’s all we can do, just be island. No matter what other cultures embrace us, the more the merrier," added Kaopua.

“We travel to connect. We spread music and stories through music to connect and resonate with others.”

And while they’re here, they’re also giving back— putting on a mini-show for Okkodo High School students for their recent academic achievements. Solomon said,  “We’ve seen other situations where that support may not have been there. So, we definitely want to give that support to our children and help them succeed.”

And Siaosi says inspiring the next generation to follow their dreams is what moves him. “Try it out because you never know. Just do it. Especially if it’s something that’s positive and that will feed back into the community. That’s why we’re here – feeding back into the community, giving back to the culture, and making sure we uplift our island people and all the people of the Pasifika," he said.

For Guam-grown musician Rudy Duenas, the night will be one for his history books. “You come back, you have the expectation of this being home, but now we get to share it with guys we literally grew up listening to!” Duenas said excitedly.

So whether you're looking to sing along to certified classics by Pau Hana or groove to Siaosi’s smooth island R&B, don’t miss the jam sessions concert at Ypao Beach Park this Saturday, September 6.
