New ambulances boost Guam’s emergency response

The Guam Fire Department is rolling out four brand-new ambulances, the Dodge Ram Promaster 3500s, purchased with American Rescue Plan funds.
Each costing $163,000, the state-of-the-art units will strengthen GFD’s emergency medical response island-wide.
Fire Chief Daren Burrier calls the addition “another important step forward,” ensuring paramedics and EMTs have the tools they need to save lives.
“We did receive them a couple of months ago and put them in service just as soon as we were able to. We are running with four new ambulances on the road, and we're looking at putting out a purchase order in the next fiscal year and keeping our fleet at optimal levels to where we can maintain the fleet up and running. We've got a fire cycle almost at completion and we're looking at 13 and we're excited to see them come out to the workforce and help fill the gap,” said Burrier.
Governor Lou Leon Guerrero says it’s a proud day for Guam, praising the dedication of the island’s first responders.
