Senate Armed Services Committee Chairman Roger Wicker and Senator Deb Fischer met with Guam leaders this week to discuss the island’s role in national defense and its economic future.

The conversation focused on the ongoing military buildup and the opportunities it brings for infrastructure investments, workforce development, and local business growth. 

The discussion highlighted calls for an economic adjustment committee to address impacts on Guam's infrastructure, as well as greater support for the Guam National Guard and investments in commercial aviation to keep the island connected and competitive.
