Job announcement for Guam Department of Education superintendent opens

The search is on for the next superintendent of the Guam Department of Education.
The Guam Education Board officially opened the job announcement Monday, looking for a leader to guide 39 schools, 25,000 students, and 3,800 employees.
As KUAM reported, current Superintendent Dr. Kenneth Swanson plans to step down by Dec. 31, citing health issues.
GEB member Maria Gutierrez, who chairs the search committee, giving some insight on the application process.
“They (applicants) just have to follow the announcement, just like any job announcement, GDOE has to post it on the website, they have to follow everything–where to submit, what is needed to be submitted, and then from there we’ll wait until the closing of the job announcement and the committee will open the box and screen the applicants whether they met the eligibility,” said Gutierrez.
Meanwhile, the board is still waiting on a legal opinion from the Attorney General on whether a GEB member can apply.
The deadline to apply is Sept. 19.
