U.S. Naval Base Guam security forces will participate in the Command Assessment of Readiness and Training.

CART is a Commander, Navy Installations Command program that evaluates installations on their response capabilities and ability to train their personnel in various force protection scenarios.

The exercise, which will take place on NBG including Apra Harbor, involves training scenarios that replicate real-world events.

It is held to enhance the training and readiness of Navy security forces response to threats to installations and units. CART is not in response to any specific threat, but is a regularly scheduled exercise.

This exercise will incorporate blank ammunition fire as part of simulated attacks.

Residents are advised to not be alarmed if they see or hear an increase in military presence in the Naval Base Guam area.

The exercise is scheduled to last from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. from Aug. 25 to Aug. 29.

During this training there will be increased patrols and security activity on and around NBG main base.

Measures have been taken to minimize disruptions to normal operations, but there may be times when the exercise causes increased traffic and delays for base access.

As part of the exercise, the NBG Giant Voice (GV) system will be activated, and residents in surrounding areas of the GV speakers will hear exercise announcements throughout the week.
