The long-awaited trial for Nicholas Wayne Moore — accused of shooting and killing Michael Castro in October 2020 — is on hold once again. This week, jury selection was set to begin in superior court, but Judge Maria Cenzon granted a continuance after hearing lengthy arguments from Moore’s defense.

The delay comes amid unresolved motions from both sides, the military leave of the case’s lead prosecutor, and the unavailability of a key witness until late October. Moore has faced aggravated murder and murder charges since 2021. His co-defendant, Troy Damian, has already pleaded guilty and is expected to testify against him.

Prosecutors say the case centers on a deadly car chase, with Castro’s body later found in a remote jungle area in Yigo.

The new trial date is expected before year’s end.
