The University of Guam Farmer Focus Project and the UOG Asia Pacific Studies Center will be facilitating three free health screening opportunities this month targeting the agricultural community but open to all residents.

The screenings will be conducted by visiting nursing and psychology students from the National Taipei University of Nursing & Health Sciences in Taiwan under the direct supervision of U.S. registered nurses.

The health screenings will be held on the following dates at these locations:

  • Saturday, Aug. 16, 2025, from noon – 4 p.m., Sinajaña Mayor’s Office
  • Monday, Aug. 18, 2025, from noon – 4 p.m., Inalåhan Mayor’s Office
  • Saturday, Aug. 23, 2025, from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., Yigo Mayor’s Office

Services offered will include:

  • Physical assessment: height, weight, body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, body composition
  • Blood analysis: blood sugar, uric acid, triglycerides, cholesterol
  • Functional assessment: grip strength, walking speed, chair stand test
  • Depression screening: Patient Health Questionnaire (PHQ-9)

The complete health screening may take 30 minutes to an hour. Participants will receive a copy of their screening results to take with them.

All personal and medical information will be kept confidential.

This marks the second health screening event held by the UOG Farmer Focus Program, following the first event in August last year. It simultaneously provides a service for the local agricultural community and an opportunity for Taiwanese students to engage in an international clinical experience.

UOG and NTUNHS signed a nursing student and faculty exchange agreement in December 2023.

The screenings are open to anyone 18 years old and older.

Priority will be given to agricultural workers and individuals who register online ahead of time.

Interested individuals may register at https://url.uog.edu/health-screening. Space is limited so early registration is recommended.
