Car deal turns sour as man is charged in online sale scam

A man who agreed to sell a used suv for $900 is now facing felony charges after the buyer says he never got the car.
According to a magistrate’s complaint, 27-year-old Christien Palacios was charged with theft by deception after allegedly failing to deliver a Mitsubishi Pajero, despite receiving full payment through PayPal three months ago.
The would-be buyer reported the incident to police, providing screenshots of their conversations and proof of payment. When officers questioned Palacios, he admitted to the deal, but claimed the vehicle was still at a coworker’s home and he couldn’t retrieve it because he owed money.
Palacios reportedly told police he was behind on several payments and loans.
He was charged with a third-degree felony.
