A jury has found Matthew Joaquin Brown guilty of possession of a controlled substance following a short deliberation. According to the Office of the Attorney General, Brown was arrested after he showed up to self-surrender at the probation office inside the superior court, with methamphetamine in his possession.

A search conducted by officers led to the discovery of a heat-sealed straw containing a white crystal substance, which tested positive for meth.

The AG’s office noted Brown’s prior drug convictions in 2019 and 2022 and plans to ask Judge Arthur Barcinas to impose the maximum penalty of five years in prison.
