The month of August is packed with events celebrating Breastfeeding Awareness Month, hosted by the Department of Public Health and Social Services’s Breastfeeding Action Team of the Non-Communicable Disease Consortium.

This year’s global theme is “Prioritise Breastfeeding: Create Sustainable Support Systems,” highlighting the importance of building supportive environments that help families succeed and thrive through breastfeeding and early bonding.

As part of this celebration, the Maternal Child Health Program under DPHSS’ Bureau of Family Health & Nursing Services will also host the annual Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Fair, bringing together healthcare providers, educators, and families to raise awareness of maternal and child wellness.

“We welcome our island community to join us in moments that honor the strength of our mothers and the joy that our babies bring into this world,” said DPHSS Director Theresa C. Arriola. “These gatherings are a chance for families to feel supported, to learn about the care that is available for them, and to know that when it comes to raising our children, they are never walking alone.”
