As the island prepares for one of the biggest celebrations of the year—the 81st Guam Liberation Day Parade—the University of Guam’s Guam Green Growth Conservation Corps is bringing a green mission to the festivities. The G3 Conservation Corps, alongside partners like iRecycle, will be out in full force—handing out free reusable can bins and encouraging parade-goers to recycle their aluminum cans.

Director of UOG's Center for Island Sustainability and Sea Grant, Dr. Austin Shelton, says it’s about keeping cans out of the landfill and into programs that support our local students.

G3 teams will walk the parade route, showing attendees how to use the can cages and where to drop off their recyclables—making it easy for everyone to do their part.

UOG president Dr. Anita Borja-Enriquez says this initiative is a true celebration of community, culture, and conservation—and it’s a chance for everyone to show pride in guam by protecting its natural beauty.

The call to action is clear: bring the energy, bring the pride—and bring your cans.
