A historic milestone at Marine Corps Base Camp Blaz on Guam, as Sergeant Major Daniel A. Soto formally relinquished his duties as the base’s senior enlisted leader.

Soto made history as the first-ever Sergeant Major of Camp Blaz, helping to shape the Marine Corps’ newest installation since its activation in 2020.

Over the past two years, he has played a key role in building readiness, strengthening leadership, and welcoming the first relocated unit from Okinawa, all while fostering a strong sense of community on the island.

For his exceptional service, Soto was awarded the meritorious service medal and inducted into the Army’s prestigious order of Saint Barbara, honors recognizing his integrity, leadership, and impact on the force.

Colonel Ernest Govea, Commanding Officer of Camp Blaz, praised Soto for setting a high standard of excellence, one that will guide the base for years to come.

Soto also acknowledged the unwavering support of his family over 22 years and eight duty stations, a foundation that allowed him to lead with pride and purpose.

As he departs for his next assignment, Sergeant Major Soto leaves behind a lasting legacy and a strong foundation for the future of Camp Blaz.
