Byron Taimanglo Muna is back behind bars, this time, accused of damaging vehicles along Route 1 in Piti while already out on felony pre-trial release for a theft case.
The 34-year-old was arrested Wednesday afternoon after police received a report of a shirtless man denting the hood of a black Toyota Tundra. Security footage helped investigators quickly identify Muna.
As officers headed to the scene, they learned he had also allegedly thrown a large rock at a Hawaiian Rock dump truck traveling south near Asan Beach Park smashing its windshield.
Muna is now facing two counts of criminal mischief as third-degree felonies. because he was already on felony release, the charges carry enhanced penalties, potentially up to 35 years in prison if convicted.
Judge Sean E. Brown has ordered Muna held on $5,000 cash bail.
