A man with a long history of violence is heading to prison. Jonathan Andrew Castro Borja was sentenced to 15 years behind bars for a vicious assault that lasted several days — holding a woman captive, beating her, and threatening her life.

According to the Attorney General’s Office, Borja began the attack on the morning of September 26, 2024 — punching, slapping, and even striking the woman in the face with a 12-volt battery. He also threatened her with a machete, and forced her to lie to relatives about her condition. The abuse continued until she found a way to escape — four days later.

Judge Alberto Tolentino handed down the sentence, calling attention to the severe injuries and borja’s disturbing decision to deny the victim medical help.

Attorney General Douglas Moylan called the sentence “A closure to the victim’s nightmare” — and “essential to protecting our community.”

Borja has 20 prior arrests and convictions ranging from theft to aggravated assault.

Now, he’ll serve time for a crime the court says reflects “not just brutality — but a clear danger to public safety.”
