A major gathering of Customs leaders from across the Pacific is underway right here on island, over five days, representatives from 23 member countries and territories, along with global partners, are meeting under the theme: ‘driving efficiency, security and sustainability: strengthening customs in the Pacific.

The conference will explore how Customs agencies can adapt in a fast-changing world—tackling issues like digital transformation, artificial intelligence at the border, environmental protection, and cracking down on transnational crime.

Organizers say the talks will shape the future of regional trade and security cooperation. Leaders are also focusing on strategic communication, gender inclusion, and sustainable practices, highlighting the evolving role of customs in both protecting borders and boosting economic resilience.
