Plea deal offered by prosecutors to Dizon in sex abuse case

A plea deal has been extended to Jeffrey Dizon Carlos, who faces multiple felony charges tied to sexual misconduct involving a 16-year-old girl.
Carlos is accused of secretly recording the teen while she was showering, and engaging in repeated inappropriate behavior over several months.
Court documents state the alleged incidents began in early 2024, while the girl was in her freshman year.
Carlos faces two counts of second-degree criminal sexual conduct, both second-degree felonies; two counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct; and one count of criminal voyeurism, each a third-degree felony.
Though Carlos was not physically present in court Monday, his attorney, William Gavras, confirmed they’ve received the prosecution’s plea offer.
Superior Court Judge Maria T. Cenzon granted more time for both sides to review the proposal.
A pretrial conference is set for Sept. 30, with trial scheduled to begin in October, unless a plea deal is finalized before then.
If convicted on all counts, Carlos could face up to 45 years in prison.
