After spending more than two years behind bars, Paris Christian Reyes Sharpe is a free man.

On Thursday, a 12-member jury found Sharpe not guilty of third-degree criminal sexual conduct in his retrial, reaching a verdict in less than a day of deliberations.

The verdict comes after the Supreme Court of Guam overturned Sharpe’s original 2023 conviction, ruling that a key piece of evidence should never have been admitted.

Superior Court Presiding Judge Vernon Perez read the verdict aloud in court, then turned to Sharpe with these words: "Congratulations… you are now acquitted."

While the criminal case is now behind him, a civil protective order remains in effect.

Sharpe, whose criminal history spans Guam and Washington state, had faced multiple charges in 2023, among them criminal sexual conduct, trespassing, and harassment.

At the heart of this case: accusations from a former intimate partner who claimed Sharpe sexually assaulted her in April 2023. But the defense pointed to inconsistencies in her statements, raising serious doubts with the jury.
