Office of the Attorney General is set to call its witnesses in Governor's lawsuit

A legal showdown between Guam's top elected officials took an unexpected pause Tuesday.
The ongoing hearing in Governor Lou Leon Guerrero's lawsuit against Attorney General Douglas Moylan was cut short in the afternoon after Superior Court Judge Elyze Iriarte called for a recess.
The judge said she needs the parties to clarify the applicability of the rules of evidence and civil procedure as the hearing continues.
The case centers on the Governor’s push for a preliminary injunction to stop the AG’s office from performing on a contract tied to the dignity project, an initiative aimed at providing housing for the homeless.
So far, the Governor’s Office has questioned Moylan and Deputy AG Fred Nishihira about sole-source procurement requirements and the legality of the AG’s contract with tropical palm hotel.
The judge says there are still unresolved legal questions and denied Moylan's push to dismiss the case early.
Proceedings are expected to continue through the week.
