Guam’s Ron Acfalle joins historic indigenous canoe voyage

A traditional canoe, a 1,600-mile journey, and a mission to revive the soul of the Pacific.
This is the Alingano Maisu, guided by stars, ocean swells, and ancestral knowledge, making a historic landfall in Taiwan after sailing from Palau.
Among the crew: Guam's own Ron Acfalle, a CHamoru cultural leader and master canoe builder whose life’s work has been about bringing seafaring back to the people.
From constructing canoes by hand to training with master navigators, Acfalle has spent decades reconnecting Guam to its maritime roots. Now, he represents our island in a rare voyage that links past to present, island to island, and identity to ocean.
We will bring you more about the journey of the Maisu and dive into the story of Acfalle’s journey of purpose, passion, and Pacific pride.
