A man convicted of sexual assault in Hågat is getting a new trial after the Guam Supreme Court ruled that hearsay evidence was wrongly admitted.

Paris Christian Sharpe, who has prior charges in both Guam and Washington State, was accused in 2023 of criminal sexual conduct, trespassing, and harassment involving multiple women.

One woman, his former partner, claimed he sexually assaulted her in April 2023.

But the defense argued her story changed multiple times, citing inconsistencies in what she told police, healing hearts crisis center, and in court.

Prosecutors used her initial police statement to support her credibility, but the high court said that violated Guam's rules of evidence. The case will now return to Superior Court, where the alleged victim is expected to testify again.
