The Guam Department of Education still wants to appeal to the federal government for millions of American Rescue Plan funds in limbo.  GDOE confirming the US Department of Education has declined its request to extend the liquidation date for COVID-19 projects.

Guam DOE superintendent Dr. Kenneth Swanson says he will follow the appeals process and explore legal options, as this type of case was just ruled by the District Court in New York State in favor of the schools.

In the meantime, GDOE says they are working with local partners to include senators and the governor and respective contractors.

To note, among the significant projects tied to these ARP funds include the refurbishment project of 12 campuses - which is currently on a 45-day work pause - as well as the refurbishment of FB Leon Guerrero Middle School.
