Governor waits to hear update from Congressman on federal funds

As lawmakers iron out the Government of Guam's budget for the upcoming fiscal year, federal funding uncertainty continues to be a looming concern.
Along with the fast moving changes from the nation’s capitol since President Donald Trump's 100 days in office.
Some among the community are asking what Congressman James Moylan is doing in Washington to secure funds for the island's health, education and public safety needs.
KUAM’s request for interviews has been unanswered, prompting us to ask Governor Lou Leon Guerrero for an update on his ‘One Guam approach.’
“No, I have not been in touch about his strategy of One Guam. But he is aware of the critical financial funding needs of our island that will help mitigate military impact, like the hospital and of course infrastructure is very important. Infrastructure like in the areas of power, water, utilities, cybersecurity and so forth. But he is aware of what the financial needs are and I know that he was here meeting with various agencies, but I have not had an update of that event,” said Leon Guerrero.
Nearly two weeks ago, the delegate announced the launch of the initiative to amplify Guam's voice in DC, claiming ‘groundbreaking discussions to create a stronger channel between the Government of Guam and the United States.’
Still, the Governor assures communication lines are open and hopes to hear from him soon.
“In fact, I got a text this morning saying he wanted to call me and talk to me about some of his initiatives. I'm pretty sure-- we have an ongoing communication line with the congressman. So I'm pretty sure he will let me know. Of course, we will support whatever we can to get the funding needs of our island,” added Leon Guerrero.
