81st Guam Liberation Day Theme: Fanohge CHamoru

The theme has been revealed as the island approaches its 81st Liberation Day. The theme is: Fanohge CHamoru - Stand Ye Guamanians. If it sounds familiar, that's because it is the opening line of Guam's national anthem, written by Dr. Ramon Manalisay Sablan back in 1919.
But on the theme, Governor Lou Leon Guerrero stated in part, “More than a historical refrain to our island’s anthem, it is the heartbeat of our identity. it pays tribute to the resilience of our people who endured occupation, hardship, and loss yet remained steadfast in their love for Guam and their hope for liberation.”
The Office of the Governor also pointing out that this theme coincides with a significant milestone: the 80th anniversary of the Organic Act of Guam, which granted American citizenship to Guam residents and established a civilian government.
