Demapan appointed Deputy Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs

CNMI Congresswoman Kimberlyn King-Hinds is celebrating the appointment of Angel Demapan to a top role at the U.S. Department of the Interior.
Demapan will serve as Deputy Assistant Secretary for Insular and International Affairs, a position critical to federal relations with the Pacific territories.
King-Hinds praised Demapan’s years of service in the CNMI and his deep knowledge of regional policy, calling him a bridge-builder who’s earned his place at the federal table.
His appointment comes as CNMI officials push to resume Section 902 Consultations, a process Demapan has participated in twice before.
King-Hinds thanked President Trump and Interior Secretary Doug Burgum for recognizing the value of territorial leadership and ensuring the Pacific has a seat in national decisions.
