Department of Corrections inmate busted for prison contraband

Despite a troubling incident at the Department of Corrections Mangilao Detention Facility where a corrections officer was placed in federal custody and put on administrative leave pending the outcome of an Internal Affairs Investigation, DOC Director Fred Bordallo Jr. would not confirm whether the incident is tied to recent charges against inmate Edward Glen Demapan.
According to court documents, officers responding to a report of contraband in Demapan’s cell on April 28, found the inmate attempting to flush a black cell phone down the toilet.
A further search uncovered more contraband, including a glass pipe that tested presumptively positive for methamphetamine.
Demapan was arrested and now faces multiple felony and misdemeanor charges for promoting prison contraband.
