Tes Reyes-Burrier, University of Guam

The University of Guam welcomes Tea Reyes-Burrier as their latest Advancement Associate under the Office of the President.

In this position, Reyes-Burrier will play an integral role in shaping the University’s Advancement Office by leading key initiatives in fundraising, advancement services, stewardship, planned giving, and alumni relations. 

She will support fundraising efforts led by the Office of the President and the UOG Endowment Foundation and work closely with university personnel to foster stronger engagement among donors and alumni.

Reyes-Burrier brings more than 30 years of experience in strategic planning, business development, project and retail management, public relations, and marketing. 

Reflecting on her new role, Reyes-Burrier said, “I’m excited and honored to join the University of Guam and to work alongside such dedicated individuals under the leadership of Dr. Anita Borja Enriquez. I look forward to contributing to the university’s mission and making a positive impact in our community."

 

Eduardo Tomas Calvo, The Beverly Hills Hotel

The Beverly Hills Hotel is pleased to announce the promotion of Eduardo Tomas Calvo to Assistant Manager of Guest Relations. 

In his new role, Calvo will oversee and enhance guest experiences, ensuring that the hotel continues to deliver 5-Star service to each of its esteemed visitors, as well as coordinating personalized services that make every stay memorable at the world-famous hotel.

Calvo recently completed The Ultimate Leaders Programme, a program he was selected for by management at The Dorchester Collection of hotels. 

The ULP is a 12-month leadership development programme designed to grow and accelerate the careers of future hospitality industry leaders. 

Tomas Calvo is a 2018 graduate of Father Duenas Memorial School and 2022 graduate of California Lutheran University, where he majored in Hospitality & Tourism Management. 

He has been working for The Beverly Hills Hotel for less than 3 years.

The Beverly Hills Hotel has long been renowned for its rich history, luxurious accommodations, and impeccable service, and Calvo’s leadership will play an essential role in continuing to uphold these traditions.

 

Dr. Hiroshan Hettiarachchi, University of Guam

The University of Guam has appointed Dr. Hiroshan Hettiarachchi, Dean of the School of Engineering, to concurrently serve as Director of the Water and Environmental Research Institute of the Western Pacific.

Dr. Hettiarachchi brings more than 25 years of experience in engineering, research, and sustainability leadership to this dual role. 

His appointment is a strategic move to strengthen collaboration between WERI and the School of Engineering and to advance UOG's mission of addressing critical water and environmental issues in Guam and the Pacific region.

Prior to joining UOG, Dr. Hettiarachchi served as an independent sustainability consultant in Michigan, focusing on circular economy, waste management, and geotechnical engineering. 

He has also held global leadership roles, including serving as Head of Waste Management at the United Nations University Institute for Integrated Management of Material Fluxes and of Resources (UNU-FLORES) in Dresden, Germany, where he launched a doctoral program dedicated to integrated sustainability efforts.

Dr. Hettiarachchi holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology, an M.S. in Soil Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology in Thailand, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from the University of Moratuwa in Sri Lanka. 

His diverse experiences, working with Indigenous farmers and high-level policymakers alike, position him to bridge research with practical, real-world applications.
