Three Guam-based scientists are being honored for their groundbreaking work in coral reef conservation across Micronesia.

At the U.S. Coral Reef Task Force meeting in Saipan, University of Guam Marine Lab Faculty Dr. Laurie Raymundo, Dr. Peter Houk, and Research Associate David Burdick each received outstanding service awards.

Dr. Raymundo was recognized for her pioneering coral restoration work, including Guam's first coral nursery in Cocos Lagoon.

Dr. Houk was honored for data-driven fisheries management, with his team monitoring reefs across over 50 islands.

Burdick was awarded for his long-term monitoring of Guam's reefs and for building a visual archive of over 3,700 local marine species.

Their work continues to guide conservation strategies and inspire global coral reef protection efforts.
