Sergeant involved in violent workplace incident has been terminated

An update to a violent workplace incident involving officers from the Guam Police Department’s Highway Patrol Division.
KUAM News has confirmed that one of the sergeants involved has been terminated, following an internal investigation into the February altercation at GPD’s Tiyan headquarters.
Sources close to the case say the conflict began over an office space dispute, when a police officer III asked the sergeant when he planned to relocate. That question reportedly triggered a violent outburst.
The sergeant allegedly threatened to shoot the officer, prompting a second sergeant to step in and de-escalate. But the situation turned physical, resulting in punches, a flask being used as a weapon, and another officer getting kicked while trying to intervene.
GPD Chief Stephen Ignacio told KUAM earlier this month that the officers were reassigned and back on duty, pending the outcome of the investigation.
