Guam's delegate to Congress is urging the U.S. Small Business Administration to restore operations at its Guam branch.

In a letter to SBA Administrator Kelly Loeffler, Delegate James Moylan expressed concern over the recent closure of the local office following nationwide staffing cuts.

The shutdown came after the agency laid off 43% of its workforce last month, impacting Guam's only remaining SBA staff member, Kenneth Lujan.

Moylan called the Guam office a "lifeline" for the island's economic recovery, especially after COVID-19 and Typhoon Mawar. He warned that shifting responsibilities to the Hawaii office could delay assistance and limit access to essential services for local businesses.

While he supports cost-cutting efforts, Moylan stressed the importance of having on-island representation to support Guam's small business community.
