The Marianas Pro Taiwan marked another historic milestone for the Marianas Open, selling out to full capacity and becoming the largest event of its kind in Taiwan’s history. 

Athletes from across Asia gathered for an incredible day of competition, with 15 championship tickets awarded to Taiwan’s winners, granting them direct entry to compete at the Marianas Open International in Guam this October.

A strong contingency of Taiwanese Jiu-Jitsu athletes are now preparing to travel to Guam, joining competitors from Korea, Japan, the Philippines, and beyond, making the upcoming October event one of the largest and most internationally diverse tournaments Guam has ever seen. 

The island's hotel industry, particularly in Tumon, is expected to see a significant increase in visitors as Guam welcomes athletes, coaches, and families from around the world

Guam’s Don Pedro Cruz also made an appearance at Marianas Pro Taiwan, representing the island as the sole competitor from Guam. 

Competing in the Juvenile Blue Belt division, Cruz captured double gold in the No-Gi divisions, earning praise from coaches, competitors, and officials from several countries for his strong performance.

"Don Pedro Cruz’s performance perfectly reflects the heart, discipline, and competitive spirit that define our athletes from Guam," said Steven Shimizu, President of the Marianas Open.

Following its successful expansion into the Philippines, Japan, Korea, and now Taiwan, the Marianas Open continues to build momentum. 

Guam is quickly becoming a premier destination for international grappling events, and October’s Marianas Open International is expected to be one of the most significant sporting events the island has hosted to date.
