A five-year long court battle is over for former Guam state historic preservation officer Lynda Aguon.

Superior Court Judge John Terlaje denied the Department of Parks and Recreation's petition and affirmed the ruling made years back by the Civil Service Commission to give aguon her job back.

Aguon, who served as SHPO for 20 years, was fired by former DPR director Richard Ybanez for alleged insubordination, improper use of a government vehicle and creating a hostile work environment.

But her attorney at the time contends she was fired for defending herself in an invalid investigation, calling it a witch hunt.

The court remanded the case back to the CSC for commissioners now to determine exact damage amounts that she may receive.
