Lifer and convicted murderer Vincent Tedtaotao denied request for release

A man convicted in the 1985 murder of David Untalan and attempted murder of another man is denied his request to get out of prison.

Lifer Vincent Tedtaotao asked a Superior Court judge for compassionate release on the grounds that he already served more than 30 years. 

Tedtaotao was sent off island in the early 2000s and placed in federal custody at the request of the Department of Corrections who stated they lacked manpower. 

Superior Court Judge Alberto Tolentino denied Tedtaotao's request for compassionate release stating the court does not have authority to grant it under federal statute. 

The judge also denied his request for resentencing.
