The Guam Department of Agriculture, in collaboration with the Greg Perez Foundation, hosted a special fishing clinic and event at the Masso Reservoir for foster children through Harvest House.

This initiative aimed to introduce the children to the joys of fishing while promoting outdoor education and community engagement.

As part of this event, the Greg Perez Foundation generously donated rod and reel sets, along with tackle boxes, ensuring that each child had the necessary gear to participate.

The fishing clinic provided hands-on instruction on basic fishing techniques, conservation awareness, and water safety, offering a fun and educational experience for all attendees.

"The opportunity to bring these children outdoors and teach them a new skill is truly rewarding," said Robert Koss, representative of the Guam Department of Agriculture. "Fishing is not just a sport—it’s a way to build confidence, patience, and an appreciation for our island’s natural resources."

The event was met with enthusiasm and excitement, as children eagerly cast their lines into the reservoir, hoping for a big catch. Support members from both the Guam Department of Agriculture and the Greg Perez Foundation were on hand to guide and encourage the young anglers throughout the day.

"It has been an honor to partner with the Department of Agriculture on this fishing clinic," said Carol Perez from the Greg Perez Foundation. "Their time, expertise and resources are deeply appreciated and will be remembered by the children who benefited from this clinic. It is through such collective efforts that we can inspire the next generation to appreciate and respect nature, engage in outdoor activities, and develop new skills. I am hopeful that we have made a positive impact and have created lasting memories.”

This fishing event is part of an ongoing effort by both organizations to engage the community and support Guam’s youth through educational and recreational activities.
