The flu season is raging, and healthcare experts are sharing concern about local travelers making their way to Asia. Andy Blakley with IHP has what you need to know to stay healthy and ensure that your trip isn't derailed by illness.

"Well, we've definitely seen an increase in the foot traffic for upper-respiratory symptoms," he told KUAM News. "And I've seen a lot of malaise – body aches and just feeling pretty junky. That's usually coupled with some congestion, come coughing – we have for sure seen an uptick in that across all ages, from kids and adults and even some elderly residents."

He added, "The body aches, coupled with the headaches, coupled with the general malaise or feeling run down probably says that you have a viral infection of some sort. I always tell my patients and it bears out with my objectives that if you feel like you got hit by a truck and all of those things are true, you probably have the flu."

He adds that IHP is well-stocked with the flu vaccine. Consult your healthcare provider for more on getting the shot.
