The administration remains committed to restoring and exceeding Guam's fleet capacity to meet community needs.

Governor Lou Leon Guerrero responded to concerns by Public Safety Oversight Chair Senator Shawn Gumataotao.

The Governor, however, admitted to challenges, including an aging fleet requiring frequent maintenance, a limited supply of ambulances available for purchase, and procurement delays which continue to pose obstacles.

Leon Guerrero was responding to inquiries on procuring additional ambulances through the Community Development Block Grant Disaster Recovery Program.

In her letter, she clarified that purchasing ambulances does not qualify as an eligible activity under CDBG-DR guidelines.

The Guam Fire Department currently has six working ambulances.

Mutual aid agreements with the Department of Defense are also in place to provide support during high-demand periods.
