Guam Police Department increases manpower during holiday weekends

The Guam Police Department is planning to enhance public safety during the upcoming holiday season by increasing activity in heavily populated retail areas. 

GPD will add additional manpower by assigning officers from specialized units and sections to support patrol teams through a holiday suppression assignment. 

This initiative is intended to increase police visibility, provide a quick response to incidents, and maintain public safety throughout the holiday weekend.

To further promote safety, below are several tips for consideration:

• Lock your vehicle and secure belongings: Ensure your doors are locked and keep valuables out of sight, such as in the trunk or a concealed compartment.
• Shop with a companion: Avoid shopping alone, especially during nighttime hours.
•  Stay vigilant: Be aware of your surroundings and report any suspicious activity.
• Keep your keys accessible: Have your car keys readily available when approaching your vehicle.
• Parking: Choose well-lit areas close to entrances when possible.
• Alternative payment methods: Consider shopping with credit or debit cards instead of carrying large amounts of cash.
