The work is complete for the governor's School Opening Readiness Team (SORT). The Magahaha hold a press conference at Adelup today with her education advisor Dr. Judi Won Pat, and directors from Public Works and Parks & Rec, and the deputy general manager for port operations.
The announcement comes after 18 schools were delayed in opening on time due to health and safety concerns. Governor Lou Leon Guerrero recalled the concerns aired by parents, which is when multiple GovGuam agencies were gathered to get to work and fix the public campuses.
“Every day, work was being done," announced the governor. "Then we finally opened the last school on October 9. We finally got Inalahan Middle School and now as a result our kids are back to school. We also are working closely with GDOE to see how we can help in anyway to maintain these safe schools. There are many work that needs to be done.
"I just ask our parents and children to work with us and our public officials and leaders to work with us to try and help the GDOE maintain its maintenance of the schools and to continue on so that we can continue to have a safe educational environment."
