A 16-year-old boy is in custody after multiple violent threats were made against a handful of schools.
The Guam Department of Education and the Guam Police Department held a press conference Monday morning discussing the incidents.
The schools targeted recently include John F. Kennedy High, Okkodo High, F.B. Leon Guerrero Middle, Notre Dame High and Benavente Middle.
Officials were alerted to the threat at JFK High on Thursday after discovering a photo on social media that showed someone holding a handgun. It includes a message that they were going to shoot up the Upper Tumon campus.
Officers with GPD’s Juvenile Investigation Section along with the FBI investigated.
The teen arrested in connection to the threat on JFK High is charged with terroristic conduct, terrorizing and assault on a police officer. He is being held at the Department of Youth Affairs.
Police are working to identify additional suspects.
The threats have led to police being stationed at the campuses.
Guam DOE middle and high school students were also instructed to use mesh or clear bags as a precaution.
