Complaint: Inmate caught with shank in prison's maximum security unit

An inmate is caught with a shank inside the Department of Corrections Post 6, the maximum security unit.

Twenty-two-year-old Matthew Salas is charged with promoting prison contraband.

Officers conducted a random search in his cell when they found a toothbrush Salas allegedly sharpened.

Court documents state officers confiscated the improvised shank.

Records show Salas was arrested last year in connection to an attack reported in Hagat.
