Department of Defense engages with Saipan, Tinian businesses

The Department of Defense held an “Industry Day” in Saipan this week.
It's an effort to educate local businesses about upcoming defense projects, contract requirements, and how they could benefit from the military build-up.
Officials from the Navy and Air Force spoke about how to do business as a contractor or subcontractor, including training opportunities.
“At times we blame the DOD or the federal agencies for some of the opportunities that we are not participating in but we have to do our part,” said CNMI Gov. Arnold Palacios.
“We have been waiting a long time to present this opportunity to you and this will not be the last time we provide this opportunity. We want to continue the dialogue with all of you and expose these kinds of opportunities,” said Rear Adm. Brent Devore of Joint Region Marianas.
A similar event was held in Tinian earlier this week.
