Guam Environmental Protection Agency reports eight polluted beaches

The results taken from 17 samples by the Guam Environmental Protection Agency identified eight beaches polluted above the accepted standards.

The list of polluted beaches can be found below:

Hagat

• Bangi Beach
• Togcha Beach - Bridge
• Togcha Beach - Cemetery

Hagatna

• West Hagåtña Bay - Park

Piti 

• Santos Memorial 
• United Seamen's Service

Tamuning 

East Hagåtña Bay - Alupang Tower Beach

Humåtak 

• Toguan Bay

Swimming, fishing or playing in unsafe waters may result in minor illnesses such as sore throats or diarrhea. 

It may also result in more serious illnesses such as meningitis, encephalitis, or severe gastroenteritis. 

Children, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems have a greater chance of getting sick when they come in contact with contaminated water.
