Guam Power Authority announces two preventive maintenance outages in Barrigada and Yigo

The Guam Power Authority is announcing two preventive maintenance in certain areas in the villages of Barrigada and Yigo.

In Barrigada, the Pedro LG Benavente Street and surrounding areas will undergo a six hour maintenance on Thursday, Sept. 5, 2024 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

In Yigo, Chalan Pedron Cala, Chalan Hiteng, and surrounding areas will undergo a four hour maintenance on Thursday, Sept. 5, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

GPA makes system improvements and conducts preventive maintenance to avoid future power outages. In most cases, the job can be done with no impact to customers; however, sometimes the power needs to be shut off in order for the crews to work safely.

If you have a generator, make sure your main breaker is in the open position for the safety of our line crew.

Have a plan for alternate power source for electrical medical equipment and charge all cell phones.

Minimize opening refrigerator and freezer doors during the outage.
