Trio to learn fate in marine tour company scheme

Two of the defendants accused in an illegal scheme that involved upwards of $130,000 face a maximum of six months in federal prison.
A third co-defendant will be spared jail time for her role.
Saori Jao, a reservations agent at Alupang Beach Club, and co-defendant Joshua Jao were each indicted on charges of conspiracy to use means of identification in furtherance of fraud.
Both are facing jail time, while co-defendant Luella Jao, a Senior Manager of Sales at ABC, took a plea deal that includes one year probation.
The trio is scheduled to be sentenced Friday before District Judge Ramona Manglona in the District Court of Guam.
As KUAM reported, the investigation involved the local marine sports tour company.
The feds uncovered the two ABC workers devised a scheme to obtain cash commission from customers who booked reservations directly with ABC and not through an independent sales agent. They would split the cash.
The scheme occurred between January 2015 and April 2019.
