With a little song and a whole lot of laughter, this Saturday is shaping up to be a lively one at the University of Guam Calvo Field House.

For one night and one night only, comedian JR De Guzman is set to take the stage, promising showgoers a night of interactive and lighthearted fun.

“Don’t be afraid of me making fun of you in the front row; I swear you’ll like it–it’ll be a souvenir. I love you guys,” said De Guzman.

The musical comedian shared a bit of his background, influences, and why you’ll typically find him with  a guitar in hand during a meeting with the public at the Westin Resort Guam today.

“Music was my first love and passion originally before I started stand up, and so it’s hard to imagine not putting them together,” he said.

De Guzman got his start in a comedy class at UC Davis, where he later incorporated an assignment on musical comedy into his stand-up.

That homework paid off, landing him on some of the world’s biggest stages.

“I opened for Jo at Madison Square Garden last year,” he added.

De Guzman also gets named as one of Variety's ten comics to watch in 2022.

His list of accomplishments continues to grow and the rising star shared some advice with budding entertainers looking to follow his path.

“Faith over fear. Have faith in your ability and where it will lead you to if you just keep going. And all of the fears that come up are going to be natural–but just continue to trust and have faith,” he said.

To catch JR De Guzman live in the show, it’s all happening on Saturday, Aug. 31, at the UOG Calvo Field House. Tickets are available on guamcomedy.com
