Compounded challenges with power generation caused outages Tuesday

Many of you might have been left in the dark overnight.
The Guam Power Authority confirmed the outages were due to compounded challenges with power generation between 6:56 p.m. to 9:12 p.m. on Tuesday.
Rotating outages were said to be limited to no more than an hour.
Officials said plant personnel continuously worked to balance the growing energy demand.
Additional outages occurred after Yigo and the Dededo #2 combustion turbine units tripped offline at about 8:36 p.m. Tuesday.
Although GPA has repaired and returned to service substantial generation capacities since November 2023 when load shedding was at its worst, officials said the system is still vulnerable to some capacity shortages at times.
This they admit is the possibility until the Ukudu Power Plant is commissioned in September 2025.
