Although no schools are officially scheduled to reopen this week, there is optimism for Finegayan Elementary School and George Washington High School, which completed inspections and are awaiting their official reports. Dr. Kenneth Swanson, superintendent of the Guam Department of Education (GDOE), expressed his hope during a public briefing on Tuesday for both schools to reopen by this week, provided their inspection results are favorable.

Swanson noted that Southern High School, which underwent public health inspections last week, needs additional work before it can reopen.

Meantime, GDOE is currently a week ahead of its inspection schedule. Jose Rios Middle School and P.C. Lujan Elementary School were initially slated for inspection on the week of September 2nd.

Swanson aims to capitalize on this progress, with the goal of having all students back in their home schools by September 30th.

So far, 29 schools have been inspected, three are currently undergoing inspections, and nine more are scheduled for review.
