A search is underway for two detainees who escaped from the Department of Corrections facility in Mangilao early Tuesday.

Investigators are on the lookout for Zivon Choffat and Parckly Ancy who reportedly went missing from the dome area (Post 29) around 5:37 am.

Prison records show the pair were arrested on separate robbery and burglary related charges.

DepCor Director Fred Bordallo confirms he got the call about the escape from his prison warden forcing authorities to launch their emergency operations plan.

He adds the fugitive apprehension unit along with officers from the Guam Police Department responded and is currently searching for the pair.

“With the situation we have, security wise, we do our best,” said Bordallo “Even with the manpower shortage and an antiquated facility, this is going to happen but it’s not an excuse.”

An internal affairs investigation is underway.

The escape comes about a week after another inmate walked out of the Mangilao compound undetected.

In that case, a witness reported seeing inmate Bernard Muna walking by the Visitors Processing Center.

Muna was found at a bus stop nearby.

An investigation is ongoing into that escape as well.
