A man caught with a makeshift shank in prison earlier this year finds himself facing additional charges after being accused of threatening people with a machete in Mangilao.

Twenty-four-year-old Martili Teliu is charged twice with assault and promoting prison contraband.

On Saturday, witnesses told police Teliu was yelling while armed with a machete and threw a sharp object at them.

Court documents state he then began dragging the machete along the metal gate for several minutes before leaving the scene.

Officers learned he roams the neighborhood while holding a machete.

Investigators note he was also caught with contraband under his pillow while being held in prison in a separate case back in May.
