Drug smuggling on Guam is an ongoing battle for local law enforcement and the year isn't over yet.

Guam Customs and Quarantine Agency already saw a spike in meth and marijuana stopped at our borders and ports of entry in 2024.

Last year, nearly 50 pounds of meth was seized, stopped from hitting the streets. That number increased to nearly 56 pounds seven months into this year.

There's also a sharp uptick of marijuana being intercepted from nearly 69 pounds in 2023 to 300 pounds in 2024.

Additional seizures made in 2024 include an assortment of 119 tablets suspected to contain illegal fentanyl and 4,000 marijuana cigarettes.

Customs noted the quantity of illegal fentanyl seized is being analyzed. Local and federal investigations are underway in connection to these cases.
