A joyride with friends turned violent after an armed man held the driver at gunpoint and later took off with his car.

Thirty-three-year-old Rodney Charles Sapp Jr. is charged with two counts of second-degree robbery as a second-degree felony, aggravated assault as a third-degree felony, and theft of property as a second-degree felony. All charges were given a notice of felony on felony release.

Sapp is additionally charged with reckless conduct as a misdemeanor.

On July 27, his accuser told police he had an affair with a woman who Sapp claimed was his girlfriend.

According to court documents, the driver picked up the woman and a few other friends before they arrived to Sapp’s home.

That’s when Sapp got aggressive and allegedly pointed a rifle at the driver, forcing him to go on multiple errands to include siphoning gas.

Sapp then allegedly burned the driver with a heated metal piece before they dropped him off to his home in the Chalan Palauan area, and fled with his car.

Sapp allegedly denied holding the driver at gunpoint, but admitted to lighting a torch stating, “We’re just guys, that’s how we f*** around sometimes, but I never burned him to where he could be hurt.”

He later admitted to possibly burning the driver, documents state. Authorities were not able to locate the stolen 2015 Nissan Sentra.

Sapp also has an active drug possession case from 2022.
